Welcome to Day 4 of Five Minute Free Writes! I can’t believe it’s time to write about the word LISTEN.
When I think of the word LISTEN; the Bible Verse that comes to mind is Psalms 46:10,
“Be Still and Know that I am God”, I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”
Prayer Walks are one of my favorite things to do. My absolute favorite place to prayer walk is to the top of Rubble Mountain. A group of friends and I would meet every Saturday morning rain or shine to hike to the top of Rubble Mountain. The walk along the path was quiet, peaceful and majestically full of nature. You would see the leaves on the trees change color as the gentle wind would brush against your face. We walked with anticipation to the top of the mountain to LISTEN to the Holy Spirit.
We enjoyed praying God’s word and reading scripture as we would walk to the top of this historic site.
Once we arrived at the foot of the cross, we would find an area to sit quietly and LISTEN.
Have you ever spent time alone with God to LISTEN?
God did speak! And we had a pen and paper ready to LISTEN and take notes.
I know, I get it, life is busy and you have many commitments and obligations, but don’t please forget the importance of LISTENING to receive instruction.
Five things to do to LISTEN to God
- Get Quiet and in a place where you can Be Still.
- Be Focused, but Relaxed.
- Prepare your Heart to receive.
- Have an open mind and the right attitude.
- Be willing to move out of your comfort zone.
It is my sincere prayer that you take the time today to LISTEN because God is speaking.
I’d like to leave you with one of my favorite songs, “Be Still and Know that I am God” by Travis Greene.
What has God said to you lately, did you LISTEN?
