3. Navigating through busy highways to get to our children to the next practice or event
4. Striving to keep ourselves healthy by eating right and exercising
This whirlwind of activities, noise, information, attractions, and distractions of our post-modern lives can leave us feeling exhausted, confused, and disconnected from God. When will this cycle end?
How can I get control over these emotions of anxiety and stress so I can be peace and connect to the heart of God?
HOW TO CONNECT TO THE HEART OF GOD
REPENTANCE
A change of heart and mind from sin toward God through confession. The Bible teaches us that the first step for opening the door to God’s heart is through repentance.
“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent; for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4 :17
Repenting is the only the beginning. A repentant spirit is one that expresses humility, a daily heart fix of confession before God asking Him to cleanse from the obvious and the hidden things in our hearts.
SURRENDER
Total surrender to God is death to self and our carnal minds. We submit ourselves whole heartedly to and die to our fleshy desires. The life of Jesus was one of total surrender to the Father. He walked the earth and did nothing until He asked God. Our daily surrender touches the heart of God and we are no longer slaves to the our own flesh.
“It is a faithful saying; For if we are dead with Him, we shall also live with Him.” II Timothy 2:11
FAITH
Without faith it is impossible to please God. The Word of God is Faith and Faith is the Word of God. It is not an impression, or presumption it is truth. Faith comes by hearting the Word of God, and we must daily examine ourselves and decide to apply the Word of God in every situation by Faith. Our hearts are purified through faith and faith is our justification to touch God’s heart.
LOVE
Most of us are familiar with John 3:16. So great a love for us that God sent His only Son to die for our sins. Of all simple ways to connect to the heart of God is through LOVING others. It is God’s standard that we love one another.
..”that we love one another as I have loved you.”
This love of God is something that I seek daily and He has given it to me so freely. I know that I want the light of Christ to shine through me and direct others to Him.
OBEDIENCE
Submitting to God’s commands. God wants us to set our hearts to obey Him. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Obedience is one of the first lessons we teach our children as we train them in the ways of God. Obedience to God brings blessings.
“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine.” Exodus 19:5
God promised to put His spirit within us as we seek His commandments. Christ kept God’s commandments and abided in His love, we are to follow this example. To live in Christ is to obey God.
PRAYER
Communication with God. It is a privilege to wait on God and to have prayer as a vehicle to connect to the heart of God. It is an important key in getting to know Him and His attributes. Waiting before God before we pray gives God the leeway to speak to our hearts about His own desires.
When we pray the desire of God, we are in agreement with Him and the answers to our prayers are certain. We also have the assurance in knowing that God hears our prayer.
It time for me to learn to wait on God. He has taught me over the years, how to meditate first upon His Word and to listen for prayers to drop into my heart through waiting.
WORSHIP
An act of honor, praise, and reverence of God. I have learned to worship God in a non-traditional way. To worship God doesn’t mean I need to be in a church service. more and more I’ve realized it is coming into a relationship with God that is one of continuous awe.
To be alone in the presence of God is loving and joyful! It may be a time of weeping, laughter, or singing. Worship comes when we touch God’s heart; it is a loving response to His presence.
Worship is God revealing Himself in us ; as we wait with patience, we leave all in His hands and immerse ourselves in His presence.
There are many ways to Worship Him
Give Him Glory ~Psalm 29:2
Bow Down ~ Psalm 95:6
Exalt Him ~ Psalm 99:5
In Spirit ~ John 4:24
Glorify Him ~ Psalm 5:8
Spirit & Truth ~ John 4:23
Because He is worthy ~ Rev. 4:11
To seek the heart of god is to pursue life. In this life is the fullness of grace and truth. I want to know the heart of God and connect to His love for He is Love!
Begin to meditate on the words of Scripture that the Lord has drawn you to, throughout your day, wherever you are. Keep meditating, praying, thanking, praising, rejoicing and worshiping the Lord in your spirit, heart, mind, and soul: whatever you are doing in your life. Do this until you can center in on the presence of the Lord in His Word. God is now working on your mind. Your thoughts are renewed in the mind of Christ.
You’re now connected to the heart of God and can use Scripture meditation and prayer to develop an even greater connection to Him! Hallelujah!
