Merry Christmas! Jesus is the Light of the World and the Greatest Gift to us today!
As we pause to celebrate the JOY that Jesus brought and continues to bring to our lives! Let us not forget the TRUE meaning of Christmas from years ago.
The wise men in Matthew 2:10-11, heard about Jesus’ birth and they were JOYFUL as they followed the star. I can imagine they had Praise on their lips, Worship in their hearts and gave Gifts to honor the birth of Jesus.
10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! 11 They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
How can you Celebrate the JOY of Jesus AT Christmas?
J-Jesus
Jesus is the One and Only Savior who was born that can save us from our sins. Take steps to keep Jesus as your focus during this season of busyness that can so easily become distracting. I have a favorite Christmas shirt I enjoy wearing during the holiday season. It says, “ I find Tinsel distracting” For me, it is a visual reminder to keep my focus on Jesus.
O-Others
Christmas season is a time when I’ve noticed that OTHERS may be struggling with depression or loneliness. The first Christmas without a loved one, the inability to travel to family, and as a part of a military community loved ones that are deployed. Consider reaching out to OTHERS around you by inviting them to share a meal, volunteer at a shelter or take someone to coffee. Ultimately, show the love of Jesus to someone around you.
Y- Yourself
Put others before YOURSELF! I have been known to buy my own presents at Christmas. I know that is ridiculous, but I’m guilty as charged. I was so afraid of not getting what I wanted on my Wish List. I would go shopping to get other gifts and before I knew it I was buying for myself. Not only was that selfish, but not showing love or kindness.
Today, make the choice to search for ways to bless others.
It is Better to Give than to Receive.
Today, we celebrate the Greatest Gift, JESUS’ Birth, and we have the opportunity to give the gift of Jesus’ Joy to someone else.
How can you show Jesus’ Joy today?
May the JOY of Jesus bless you on this Special Day!
Merry Christmas!
