My 3 Best Resources for Confession Scripture Praying

Have you ever struggled with what to pray or how to pray? Did you know God speaks to us when we are praying the word of God. Praying scripture is the source of communication between you and God. It is a way for you to share what is on your heart and seek direction for life. God's word which is inspired through the Holy Spirit gives us the privilege to have this special relationship.

We speak and pray God's truth back to him by praying the word of God over our lives and back to him.

When we pray and read the Bible, God teaches us in a way that is tailor-made for us. We learn to say new things to Him and we pray with more creativity. It’s amazing!

The Holy Spirit prays through us and gives us new insights as we pray, but how can we do this in the most effective way? How do we pray-read God’s Word?

When you are praying and speaking the Word of God into the atmosphere; the atmosphere will change.

“The tongue has the power of life and death." Proverbs 18:21

I would find a scripture that addressed my problem or situation and replace or add my name wherever appropriate. One of my prayers went like this:

"God did not give LaVonda a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. LaVonda is created in the image of God and He has a plan and a purpose for her life. Greater is He that is in LaVonda than he that is in the world. LaVonda is an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony."

I remember my mother giving me the book, "Prayers That Avail Much " by Germaine Copeland]. This book is tattered and remains one of my favorites today. It has inspired me to learn use scripture memory as a weapon in spiritual warfare.

I would write these positive scriptural reminders on note cards and post them where I could see them as a visual reminder whenever I was struggling with low self-esteem, feeling unloved, and not accepted.

I had low self-esteem, lacked confidence, and I was surrounded by negativity. Learning to pray the word of God over my life developed confidence and boldness in who I am in Christ.

My mother was not an affectionate person that gave hugs or a woman of encouraging words, but she knew where to lead me to build a solid foundation. I know she loves me and did an outstanding job assuring my sister and I had food and shelter.

And yes, I did long for words of encouragement and that occasional hug an expression of unconditional love.

I know my husband loves me, but my insecurities spilled over into our marriage causing marital conflict. It was then that I discovered The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian.
